This full-day workshop is designed for higher education faculty who are engaged in NAEYC Accreditation of Early Childhood Higher Education Program Accreditation (please note, this workshop is not applicable to those pursuing NAEYC SPA Recognition as part of CAEP Accreditation). This workshop will focus on the NAEYC Professional Preparation standards; evaluating sample key assessments, rubrics, and data charts; and using student performance data to improve programs. It will be especially helpful for those who are writing self-study reports, meeting annual reporting requirements, or responding to conditions. Breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon refreshment break are included.
Where’s the Math? - A Day with the Authors
Time: 8:30 AM-3:00 PM
Fees: $239 members/$299 nonmembers
In this highly interactive all-day workshop, Mary Hynes-Berry and Laura Grandau will be guiding attendees in finding the math in 5 questions all children ask, which are highlighted in their new book: Where’s the Math: Books, Games, and Routines to Spark Children’s Thinking.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have experienced and planned their own tailoring of strategies and activities featured in the book! Attendees will leave with an extended bibliography of books, games, and routines — with annotations that we will be generating throughout the day. While PreK and Kindergarten teachers are the main audience, many of the ideas are very extendable to primary.
Families and Educators Together - A Day with the Authors
Time: 8:30 AM-3:00 PM
Fees: $239 members/$299 nonmembers
This dynamic full-day workshop will introduce a comprehensive approach to building relationships with each and every family based on NAEYC's new publication, Families and Educators Together: Building Great Relationships that Support Young Children. Discussions, information sharing, and practical applications will allow teachers, family child care providers, coaches, supervisors, and others to enhance their approaches to engaging families. Participants will update their understanding of family engagement, focus on reciprocal partnership strategies, develop a draft communication plan to be shared with colleagues and families, learn ways to connect home and program teaching and learning, and begin to identify community partners whose mission is aligned with that of early educators. Presenters will share stories about successful family engagement practices throughout the day.
From Power to the Profession to Unifying Framework: Making the Profession a Reality
Time: 12:00-4:00 p.m.
Special Free Workshop (space limited)
Launched in 2017, Power to the Profession convened a Task Force of 15 national early childhood organizations to establish unity and clarity around the career pathways, knowledge and competencies, qualifications, standards, accountability, supports and compensation needed for the early childhood education profession. Through a process of iterative feedback involving thousands of individuals, the Power to the Profession Task Force is presenting its core recommendations in a framework for a unified and effective early childhood education profession.
The implementation of the framework will build a bridge to a future where each and every child, beginning at birth, has the opportunity to benefit from high-quality, affordable early childhood education, delivered by an effective, diverse, well-prepared, and well-compensated workforce.
Join a conversation on how the recommendations contained within the framework will lead us to drive the significant and sustained public investments needed to reach our vision and learn how you can be part of the movement to make our vision a reality.
