Nancy Griswold – General Counsel and Assistant Secretary
Nancy Griswold is NAEYC’s General Counsel. She serves as a member of NAEYC's Executive Team and leads the delivery of a full range of legal services in support of NAEYC’s mission — including governance, tax, accreditation, publishing, data security, technology, grants, and fundraising. Nancy advises on legal implications of strategies and their implementation to NAEYC staff, the NAEYC Governing Board, the Council for NAEYC Accreditation, and the NAEYC Commission on Early Childhood Higher Education Accreditation. Her work also supports approximately 50 NAEYC Affiliates and Chapters nationwide. Nancy has always exhibited a passion for education. For example, she has tutored students in inner-city schools, served as Vice Chair of a public School Board, and served as a Director and Administrator of Religious Education. Nancy has also been a fitness professional for over 25 years. Prior to joining NAEYC, Nancy spent over 16 years as an attorney representing corporations at BNY Mellon Bank, CIGNA, and MassMutual. Nancy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master’s Degree in psychology from the University of Chicago. She earned her Juris Doctor from Boston University.
